We started the trip by flying into Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, Avoca and taking a pre-booked shuttle directly to Woodloch Resort Woodloch Resort, Hawley. After checking in and getting settled, we had a straightforward dinner at The Grille at Woodloch Springs The Grille at Woodloch Springs, Hawley. It was a low-key arrival that saved us from having to navigate rental car traffic after the flight.
The next morning, we checked out of the resort and headed toward Lake Wallenpaupack Lake Wallenpaupack, Hawley. We stopped at the Hawley Silk Mill Hawley Silk Mill, Hawley for a walking tour, which gave us a practical look at the region’s industrial past without it feeling like a lecture. We grabbed coffee and a pastry at Cocoon Coffee House and Bakery Cocoon Coffee House and Bakery, Hawley before spending some time just watching the water at the lake.
On our third day, we spent time around Lackawaxen. We had lunch at The Lackawaxen House The Lackawaxen House, Lackawaxen and spent the afternoon at the Zane Grey Museum Zane Grey Museum, Lackawaxen. The walk over to the Roebling Aqueduct Roebling Aqueduct, Lackawaxen was easy and offered a good view of the river, making for a relaxed afternoon.
We returned to the Woodloch area on the 30th for a yoga session at the Woodloch Springs Sports Complex Woodloch Springs Sports Complex, Hawley. Later, we tried archery at the Woodloch Activity Center Woodloch Activity Center, Hawley, which was harder than it looks, followed by dinner at Tree Restaurant and Bar Tree Restaurant and Bar, Hawley.
We wrapped up the trip by exploring Honesdale. We walked along Main Street Main Street, Honesdale, visited the Wayne County Historical Society Museum Wayne County Historical Society Museum, Honesdale, and had a solid meal at The Honesdale Bistro The Honesdale Bistro, Honesdale. Before leaving, we spent a final morning at Lake Wallenpaupack, taking a boat tour from the marina Wallenpaupack Scenic Boat Tour & Marina, Hawley and doing some paddle boarding at Rubber Duckie Boat Rentals Rubber Duckie Boat Rentals, Hawley.
