We arrived at Faro Airport Faro Airport, Faro on July 3rd and took a quick taxi into the city center. It was a straightforward transfer, and we spent our first afternoon walking through the Arco da Vila Arco da Vila, Faro to enter Vila Adentro Vila Adentro, Faro. The Old Town is compact and very walkable, which made it easy to get our bearings immediately.
For our first dinner, we stopped at A Taska A Taska, Faro. We kept to a $55 daily budget, so we focused on local staples and avoided the tourist traps near the harbor. Later, we grabbed a drink at Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar Columbus Cocktail & Wine Bar, Faro, which is a reliable spot to watch people pass by on the square.

The following days followed a steady routine. We visited the Faro Cathedral (Sé Catedral) Faro Cathedral, Faro to climb the tower for a look at the rooftops and the marina. We also made sure to spend time in Jardim Manuel Bivar Jardim Manuel Bivar, Faro, which is a great place to sit when the afternoon sun gets too intense.

We found that buying groceries at local stores for quick snacks helped us stay well under our spending limit. We are planning to head out to the islands soon to see the beaches, which should be a nice change of pace from the city stone.
